Hello Again |
|
Well hello again.
I guess I have been inspired to write again.
It’s been touch and go around here they tell us
we are packing up and leaving then they say where
staying. The marines want us to stay but the 30th
regiment wants us to go west to build more. I’m
fine right here still a little sandy but I almost
got it fix up nice. We will be losing some guys
to go to FOB’s
(That’s forward operating bases) to set up SWAHUT
for the Iraq’s to take over and live in. hope
they like them. SWAHUT’s are southwest Asia huts
that we build. They are like one room plywood
houses that you could put 20 beds in to sleep in.
they have AC in them to, that a plus around here.
That what we build for the marines to live in to.
We would like some but we are to busying building
them for everybody else so we’ll just stay in our
tents and old block buildings. The block building
aren’t bad after you stop the hole up if they
don’t fall in.
I was a sleep other night and a piece of the
ceiling fell down and I came jumping out of the
bed thought I done been fraged by a grenade.
The guys out side my door are having too much
fun they have killed a camel spider about the
size of a baseball. We have a wood porch built on
the side of the building where everybody hangs
out. They have tied a string on the spider and
run it threw a crack in the wood. They will get
someone to stop and look at the spider then pull
the string. It has scared the poo poo out of some
of them. Thing you do for fun around here.
I got to have fun today my guy’s where cleaning
up the shop and found a scorpion it ran under the
tent side. They where probing with a stick trying
to find it not knowing I’m standing on the other
side of the tent. I ran a big black wire under
the tent side one big solider let out a scream I
think the other jump in his arms. Got to have fun
some how.
We get to have a Memorial Day party or cook out
Monday we get to use this nice building they fix
up kind like a club. We had it all day but some
general think he more important than us so we
have to leave after 14:00 so he can use it. Like
he doesn’t have it made already. O well I guess I
stop cry now it could be worse I could be in Iraq
oh no I am!
We are at the half way mark now, boy it seems
like a long time left. People are starting to
get edgy. Ever little thing is starting to
bother people. We had two people to go home now
with emotional problems a one more on his way.
Pray for them.
I find that lot of prayer and bible study
helps. Boy it really makes me miss my church. We
have church here but it’s not the same. The music
on CD it’s not bad I get to play drums when the
guitar player makes it. Then I don’t think it’s
to good. I started to say you alt to hear us but
you’ll be glad you don’t. You know working with
these guys really make me miss the tweens at
church to they act about the same. Actually the
tweens act a lot better. Got love them anyway.
Well I’m listening to Michael W Smith I feel
reenergized now so I’m going to do something
constructive like maybe going to bed. Or sit on
the porch and watch people walk by I’ll find
something. Don’t worry mom I’m not going
wondering off base. But I may look over the
fence. Just kidding.
Yaw right me back I don’t have time to right back
a lot but I do like getting E-mail and letters
from you all.
Love you And God bless you all

Life in Iraq |
|
Hello! How is everyone doing? I’m doing well
the last two days has been interesting we had a
generator to go down. At the Internet café this
is were our phones and computer are. I was able
to get them one of our generators I set it up and
had our electricion to wire it in. didn’t realize
that the army group that was here before didn’t
know how to wire. The electrician hooks up the
wires we turn on the generator and blew all the
light s out of the building. No one could use the
computer or phones for two days.
We haven’t had any sand storms yet but the sand
in the air is so thick it looks like fog. Kind of
weird. Well besides working and keeping everybody
else busy my days are about the same. I don’t
have a lot to tell you about but I try. I get up
at 5:00 take a shower eat breakfast. Then I try
to call home if the line not to long. Then I head
to the shop or big tent with no ends on it that
we try to work on equipment in with no tools. I
wonder if Jerry could talk to Rumfield to get me
some tool. By the way I wouldn’t give the army
anything, we been going through there garbage. We
call it the Seabee supply yard. And been finding
brand-new parts and tools. They just threw it
away to keep from having to take it back. They’re
your tax money at work. Then I take lunch at
12:00 to 13:00 then back to the shop. We stop at
18:00 and go back to camp. Then I have to email
all my reports for the day to the A6, which is
the big boss for Alpha CO. then I try to go to
sleep if know one gets me up to fix something or
ask me question about anything. I have 8 people
working for me at this time. That about how my
day goes except on sat. That when we try to catch
up on any thing we missed or got behind on during
the week. And there’s sun. We get to do what we
want till 13:00 I usually sleep in then go to
church at 11:00 then we work on our camp till
18:00. We will be starting SWC training at night
really soon so that we give me something else to
do. That’s a class on how to be a Seabee Rambo.
The food here is not bad but they do have rice
with every meal. We have anouther generator broke
now. I fix it for them it had stop up fuel
filters in it. I told them they need to change
the fuel filter and air cleaner. They tried; it
hasn’t run since they touch it .The marine’s have
no power any shower or inside toilets. And that
means we don’t enter because we use there’s.
The shower are up today but I bet time I get
there, there want be any hot water. This is a
different day by the way I have to write during
my free time. They got me up at 01:00 this
morning our generator stop that runs all our
radios. But I got it fixed pretty quickly.
Seen some dust tornados today I don’t know what
you call them but they look like tornados to me
they were even caring garbage or debrie in them.
Well it been a good day so far I haven’t torn
anything up and I may get to go to my room with
out any problems.
I will try to write back later.
Love you all

The beginning of my Seabee tour |
|
How is everything going? This is a different
place now I see while Jesus didn’t stay here.
It’s sandy and flat. It’s not been hot yet but
you can tell it coming.
I’ve been doing some training I started out in
Gulfport MS going though SERT training (Seabee
Replacement Training) It started out with
checking in going to the doctor and dentist then
we had to go to PSD that were you get paid from.
Went to supply they give us out gear the
canteens, backpack rain poncho, and order our new
uniforms. And boots. After we finish out
checking end then the first 2 days wasn’t bad we
were in class and when over the military conduct
in a hostage time. The next day, which was sat,
we had to wear out gear and do a 5-mile march in
formation. Glad that was over. Cheryl, Ashley and
Rachel got to come down. Rachel rubs my feet boy
did that feel good. Sun went to first aid class
for 3 hour not too bad. Then we started SERT the
first day not bad went over first aid, navigation
and map reading. Which I may need the base is 6
miles long and don’t know how wide it is. It has
2 run ways. The second day training was more
indoor classes on patrols, convoys, and Iraq
culture boy are they weird. Then we had a brief
with some military head doc I thick he made us
feel worse. The next day was on convoy again IED
these are the thing that blowing up the convoy
that the surges are planting on the road. We went
over room clearing the we went to a building and
had to practice clear the room I felt like the
guy on the swat team. Except slower and fatter.
The 4th day we went to a place called woolmarket
and had to learn how to put up serpent wire,
practice using a compass and paroling. Then we
did riot training this was hard but kind of fun.
The next day we practice convoy and had people in
the wood to attack us. And if we mess up we had
to do push up. Yes I did a few a few more than I
wanted to. We had to learn about our weapon my is
an m16 then we shot them and that fun but you
have to clean them for hours if the armory don’t
like them you will clean them again. the next day
I had CBR training went though the gas chamber.
It doesn’t taste good. The weekend was great I
got in off. Cheryl the girls and her mom and dad
came up we had a good time. Then that sun my mom
brother and sister came up we hung out and of
course went and ate. We had and great visit. Got
my uniforms and boot the boots don’t fit I have
tried on three pair and still can’t get the right
ones so Cheryl order me some they didn’t fit
ether. so I sold them and order another pair they
do fit. Well we are getting ready to leave for
Kuwait. So my chief decides I need to teach a
class so I do to about 30 Seabees. The next day I
left out for kuwait we flew for 8 hour stop in
Ireland for 1 hour then flew for 7 more hour I’m
starting to hate flying now I’m glad to be off
the plane. Got to Kuwait and had to start working
right away going to have more class for a week
mine got cancel the next day they said I need to
be in Iraq to do turn over. That taking over the
job of the guy that’s coming home. Well I flew to
Iraq in C130 cargo plane that seem fun at first
but my but was hurting so bad when I got there,
you sit on a net seat. Well i'm here now. Road
around base with CM1 that the guy I’m replacing
he showed me the lake that was Sadams 2 sons it
on our base. By the way don’t worry a whole lot
about me there is 9000 soldiers here mostly
Marians but that kind of worries me most of them
are 18 and caring a loaded weapon. Well I seen to
day I got a lot of work to do. when I get time
again I keep you up to date.
Thank you all for your prayed and support I love
you all

Allen in Kuwait |
|
Last night Allen called Cheryl and said that he
is in Kuwait. He didn't know what time it was or
what day it was. (of course this is pretty
normal with Allen.) lol..
He will only be getting a few hours of sleep
because he has to start his day dark and early..
Allen will be heading to his camp in a few days.
He says that as far as the eye can see there is
nothing but SAND!
Allen.. we love you and miss you and can't wait
til you get to come home..
Please keep Cheryl the girls and his family in
your prayers as well as ALL of our Military.

| Allen in Gulfport |
|
Allen left Monday at 12:30 for Gulfport, MS.
He is doing fine. Just tired. We know when
Allen gets tired and hungry he gets grouchy..
Sure do feel sorry for the other guys that are
with him right now.. LOL..
Rumor has it that Allen is now a bus driver in MS.
As we get further details we will let you know.
This website will be updated weekly. Hopefully
Allen will be sending us some pictures soon. We
do know that he has not been able to get online
yet so if you have e mailed him and haven't
gotten a reply that is the reason.
Keep Allen and his family in your prayers.
